Creative Layering

Shirt: American Eagle Outfitters
Dress: Aeropostle
Belt: Value Village? My parent’s closet?  Not quite sure…

One great thing about the current trends is that maxi (ie: long) dresses are REALLY in and when combined with the bright colours in-style now, there are a lot of great pieces to be found. On the downside, these dresses are often strapless or very strappy.

Enter: creative layering.  You’d be surprised how many ways you can use what’s already in your closet as layers with a dress like this. Most commonly I wear it with a teal t-shirt underneath, but I also like it with a black cardigan and some funky jewelry, and as pictured here – a slouchy shirt with a belted waist. The shirt is new and I think it is going to come in really handy, especially in the fall. The denim here works as a neutral colour, especially against the bold, bright print of this dress.
